RPS Verdict: In its best moments, Samson is like a goon-battering GTA 4 roleplay mod, but in its worst it's horribly broken

While Rockstar continue to delay GTA 6, there's at least one developer out there with the guts to release their open-world crime 'em up. In Samson you slip into the well-worn getaway driver shoes of the eponymous hero as he takes illicit jobs to earn off a debt to the crime family holding his sister hostage. Made by a team led by Just Cause and Mad Max lead Christofer Sundberg, does Samson capture the explosive magic of Avalanche's games? Julian and Mark have been tearing up the streets of Tynd

Pokemon battles with space cows, dinosaurs and gaseous blobs are the premise of No Man's Sky's latest update, dubbed Xeno Arena

Ooh, it hasn't got a Pokemon-style mode that lets you collect a bunch of alien critters and force them to fight to the death in a fashion that might be deemed barbaric if it wasn't so bloodless and cutesy. ResetEra user dex3108 spotted, deep within the Valve app’s newest client update, a number of unused text strings relating to a "Framerate Estimator" tool. Putting aside my sadness that no-one’s ever thought to call me The Framerate Estimator, in the appropriate title case, it sounds like this would take a rough punt on how many frames per second the user’s hardware c

Just Cause studio's canned dragon-riding fantasy romp AionGuard "would have been Crimson Desert", reckons former Avalanche creative head

Back in the late 2000s, Just Cause developers Avalanche ended up in a publishing pickle with a fantasy open-worlder they were working on. It was dubbed AionGuard, and ex-Avalanche chief creative officer Christofer Sundberg reckons that had it not ended up chucked on the cancellation bonfire, the game would've done a lot of the same things which've helped make Crimson Desert a hit all these years later.
