"No more hand-written code": Epic reportedly impose "AI-first" model on creators of new Disney shooter with Marvel and Star Wars characters

The happy-go-lucky bigwigs at Epic Games have instructed the creators of an unannounced shooter that features Marvel and Star Wars characters to complete their project using an "AI first" production model, according to a report, with generated art and code. The Disney collaboration in question was allegedly due for release in March, but has now been delayed indefinitely. The game's makers are, we're told, being ordered to make heavier use of Anthropic's Claude and similar tools. Read more

Burn With Me is a hand-drawn demon card game featuring the artist's own hand - and also, a refreshingly finite alternative to yer Balatro-likes

Burn With Me is a hand-drawn game in which the most prominent non-hand-drawn bit is artist Eva Manuilovich's own right hand. Excellent, no notes. Last week, Valve chose their absolute most favourite announcement time – Friday evening, after we all go home – to release the Steam Frame’s CAD files to the world. In short, this lets anyone with a 3D printer or a lathe or an injection moulder (etcetera) take the VR headset’s official blueprints and use them to make cool stuff for it. That's according to a leaker with a solid track record when it comes to the company. If accurate, the move's the latest instance of a gaming tech firm turning away from regular PC owners to chase the more plentiful cash offered by hawking gear to GenAI developers and datacenters. You need not hunger for that Zelda Ocarina of Time remake when we already have Indigo, a colossal N64 romhack featuring mushroom forests and bearded Link

The Legend of Zelda series is fond of stories about the inexorable and obliviating passage of time. Somebody should make one about growing so old, stupid and exhausted that you can't distinguish original Zelda games from romhacks of those games. Romhacks like Indigo, a "full game replacement" for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, set 15 years after the events of Majora's Mask. It's got a couple of public demos, and is playable on PC via static recompilation - the mechanical translation of t

Gears of War: E-Day DDoS attacks are to blame for "intermittent disconnects" and "login issues", The Coalition confirm

DDoS attacks suffered by Gears of War: E-Day over the weekend were to blame for players being suddenly disconnected from servers and having trouble logging in, according to devs The Coalition. The chunkily-armoured shooter's online services were targeted, it would seem in a deliberate effort to grind the Gears to a halt. Read more
